上記×印の表現は英語の統語上の制約に反し、文法的な正確さに欠けています。現実から直接連続している未来の条件を提示する場合、現実から直接連続していない未来―あるいは個人の意志による行為―を条件として提示することはできません。下記の表現1)～3)は、上記○印の表現と同様、文法的に問題のない自然な表現です。

1) If you do the shopping for me, I will give you some money.

2) If you'll do the shopping for me, I'll give you some money.

3) If you' regoing to do the shopping for me, I'll give you some money.

いっぽう、下記の表現1)～3)は、上記×印の表現と同様、英語の統語上の制約に反し、文法的な正確さに欠けています。

1) A: The phone's ringing.  B: I'm going to answer it.

2) If John will discover the answer, he'll get an A.

3) The man who will visit Singapore tomorrow, may be detained at the airport.
